Myopia Care For Kids

The doctors at Ridgeview Eye Care believe that with early intervention, we can provide options to manage or slow the progression of your child's myopia and therefore reduce their long-term eye health risks associated with myopia.

What is Myopia?

Myopia means that your child’s vision close up is clear but far away is blurry. Myopia will likely continue to increase to around twenty years of age. As this occurs, your child’s vision will likely get significantly worse every six months to a year.

Why is Myopia Management Important?

High myopia is scientifically proven to be associated with an increased risk of developing sight-threatening eye diseases later in life such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment. Studies have shown that myopia management therapies can decrease predicted myopia progression by 40-50%.
